What does membership offer ?


The club is always pleased to welcome new members from Full bowling to Associate members.

The club tries to offer a range of bowling and social activities throughout the year. 



What is available?


Opportunity to participate in league and friendly games along with all internal and external club competitions.

Being a member gives you the chance to play with and against different levels of bowlers from beginners to past & present County players,  past & present international players  and even a former World Champion.


Coaching sessions are available for persons without any experience of bowling and who wish to sample the sport before submitting an application. Other prospective applicants are welcome to visit the club before completing a form.


The club has a regular Tuesday afternoon jumbles in which anyone can come along and have a go. Thursday afternoon jumbles is used for our Jumbles Average Competition (The average of your best 10 scores over the season).


There are two Men's teams in the local league, plus a Men's over 55's team, while the Ladies currently operate one team, very successfully, They are National Top 10 Team Champions for the last two years.


The club runs a full range of internal competitions that members can enter, as well as a number of sponsored competitions that draw bowlers from both north and south of the border.

As part of Cumbria Bowls Association members can enter the county wide competitions, which can lead to representing the county at the National Finals in Leamington Spa.


There are a number of friendly fixtures which include games against clubs and County Associations touring Cumbria, plus fixtures against local bowling clubs. These all involve some kind of social event from tea and biscuits through to full meals and live entertainment.


There is an annual Club Tour that takes place usually over the August Bank Holiday Weekend which is open to members. This normally includes three games of bowls plus the chance to socialise with others Clubs.


During the winter months we have The Thursday Club, which provides an opportunity to play short mat bowls, which is very different from outdoor bowling, 5's and 3's dominoes, various card games, chess, darts, table tennis, a quiz plus a cup of coffee or tea and the chance to catch up with other members.


Fees 2022


On acceptance into membership applicants will be asked to pay:


Full Membership: – £35.00 (valid to 31st March 2023)


New membership:- £25.00 (not a member of a previous clu


Junior Membership: – £5.00


Social Membership: – £5.00


Membership fees are payable by the end  April 2022.


Fees can be paid by the following methods:


  1. By club online banking account sort code 20-18-47 Acc no 70229423 leave your name as a reference.
  2. Credit Bar Machine at the bar leaving your name with the receipt or cash to Anne or Bob Dalziel.
